'Lavender Cotton' or 'Gray Santolina' Santolina chamaecyparissus tomentosa Family: Asteraceae Softer yellow colored flowers and shorter than the normal species. With silver-gray colored, compact foliage. Very drought tolerant, grow in full sun in well draining soils, in zone 9 will take some shade. Evergreen shrubby plants with balls of yellow flowers, growing 8 inches tall. An attractive formal looking plant. Space 12 inches apart. Use as a permanent contrast in mixed borders, or edging in herb gardens.
