Corylopsis in full bloom is a sight of unforgettable charm and beauty. Graceful tassels of light yellow flowers dangle elegantly from the bare branches in early April, enhancing the display of early spring bulbs. The bluish-green foliage that follows is quite attractive and often colors yellow in fall. Corylopsis is easy to grow, requiring only moist but sharply drained soil in full sun or part shade. Some protection from winter winds provided by an evergreen background will improve bloom and display the flowers to perfection. The first Corylopsis with golden leaves! Gold Spring leafs out bright lemon yellow and subsequently turns first to chartreuse and then to light green. Growth is rather lax, and we expect it to mature at about 6 feet. Best planted in a bit of shade to enhance the leaf color. Of course, even before the leaves emerge, youll be charmed by chains of fragrant yellow flowers on 1 to 2-inch-long racemes, as with regular C. spicata. Z. 6-8 ...
