Aquilegia vulgaris 'Woodside Gold' - Variegated European Columbine

Its intensely golden springtime foliage gradually changes into light yellow summer garb, imparting a bright glow to darker garden corners. Gorgeous bicolored blue and rose blooms heighten the display.

Hardy zone: 4-9
Blooming Time: May-August
Height: 36" / 90cm
Family: Ranunculaceae
Origin: Hybrid
Full sun or part shade in moist, but well-drained soil. Plants may become floppy if not given adequate moisture. Spectacular in the perennial border, integrated with other tall, loose-formed plants and grasses. Very good cut flowers.
Historical Lore: Young Native American men mixed the seeds with their smoking tobacco to give it a more pleasant aroma and this may have been considered a love charm. It was considered to possess a persuasive power and was so used in council meetings.

The starter plants you willl receive are growing in 2" x 3" pots. They may bloom this year, next year for sure.
