Lustrous dark green needles and red fruits make this yew a very attractive shrub, although quite common in moderate climate. “Hicksii” is a successful cross between the Irish yew tree and the regular yew tree. As a female plant, it produces red berries which are poisonous just like the whole plant. It responds very well to pruning if you want to maintain a certain shape.
