
Darmera peltata - Umbrella Plant
Hardy Umbrella Plant - Darmera peltata Family: Saxifragaceae Origin: The species is native to western United States. Large, rounded clusters of red-centered, blush-white flowers rise on thick stalks before the clumped growth of massive (18" across), orbicular, lobed foliage emerges.
Shade to partial shade, moist organically rich soil. A great but coarse plant for along a streamside or for the bog-garden. Nice in combination with Rheum or ornamental grasses.
