Aruncus dioicus - Goats Beard
Synonyms:Aruncus sylvester, Spiraea aruncus, Spiraea paniculata. Great drifts of lacy white for summer! 5-Foot Feathery Plumes of Airy White! Looks delicate, but has a tough, vigorous nature! The secret is out--this Goat's Beard is a landscaping dream! Vigorous and bold, it is ideal for the back of the border where its large, wispy plumes of soft ivory float like clouds above the foliage. It is also great at the edge of the water, naturalized in a meadow or woodland setting, or even as a backdrop to shrub roses!
The lacy color and tall, dense foliage are at home almost anywhere! Best in moist soil and full sun in cooler climate; in warmer areas, some shade is preferred. A rough-and-ready perennial that looks dainty yet stately, Goat's Beard belongs in almost every garden.
